I use AI, for all of my articles, and I think that for increasing public awareness of important topics, it’s an excellent tool. It writes it all for me which allows me to focus on things like marketing for the Futurespore brand and being able to balance life with it.
I don’t think that Medium should necessarily outright ban AI, rather if you’re going to allow for AI content to exist, raise the standards. Improve the detectors so that if anyone’s pumping out AI content, there’s a filter and a bar set for quality. Low tier AI content should not be allowed or rewarded.
That’s something I’m aiming to achieve with my blog currently, as I have more of a goal of improving general societal knowledge around a specific set of educational topics than in just being a writer, and I really take the time to make sure that the end result is enjoyable for the reader and doesn’t come off as being AI. By the time I hit “submit”, I’ve made sure that the article sounds like something I’d write, and in the way I’d write it.
Many people haven’t figured out how to create anything quality yet because the technology is so new. Having a background in copywriting, it’s made pursuing my own projects a million times easier. You can make it write based upon your personal writing style and turn it into something quality. But again, I do believe Medium should filter for AI writing. I’ve had lesser quality pieces shadowbanned and I totally think that’s fair. Sh*tty pieces that don’t have any standard set to them shouldn’t get pushed, there should be constraints so that Medium can maintain its quality writing reputation.
